On April 25, 42 Area Marketing and Theater students traveled to New York City for what has become known as #THSNYC. #THSNYC19 was the 8th trip to The Big Apple for Trenton and Gibraltar Carlson students. Students use the 3 day journey to deepen their understanding of school curriculum, expand their career background and take in what New York City has to offer. 

Students began the trip with a deep dive into Sports Marketing during a tour of Madison Square Garden. The group got a full access look at what makes The Garden one of the most iconic venues in Sports and Entertainment. Students followed up their trip to MSG with a Broadway Workshop at Ripley Grier Studios. Students were split into two groups. One group sharpened their improv skills with actress Angela Pierce while the other got a behind the scenes look at the business of Broadway by meeting with Phantom of The Opera cast members Rachel Anne Moore and Jeremy Stolle. Moore and Stolle offered career advice and wisdom from their 10 year experience working with Phantom.

Students also experienced a walking tours of the sights, as well as stops at The 9/11 Memorial and Museum. After a tour of Central Park, students and chaperones attended a matinee showing of Phantom of The Opera.The students also sprinkled in shopping and sight-seeing time into the experience as well.

The student travel experience began in 2012 as a proposal from some of Trenton High School's business students. After suggesting the idea, students were challenged to put a trip together, put a proposal together and present it to The Trenton School Board. In subsequent years, THS Theater students and Carlson Business students have been added to the trip.
